To the point - Part 2.
Customer: But how do T-Systems’ delivery model and infrastructure stand out when it comes to data transmission and reliability?
Head of Engineering & Systems Management:
In many different ways. For example, by means of redundancy – which was vitally important for the World Cup. We now employ a twin core strategy. All customer data stored in a data center is mirrored in a second, identical twin. Even if one facility suffers a total failure, the data is still available.
A second point is the smart design of our networks. The number of applications and the volume of data were growing exponentially; traffic was skyrocketing. We understood that our customers needed networks that were application-aware. And we took corresponding action, introducing cloud network quality of service in 2007.
When networks recognize which applications are in use, it is possible to vastly improve transmission speeds. Application awareness allows us to achieve up to a ten-fold acceleration when applications and data in demand from multiple users are transmitted just once and then distributed. With this kind of speed, we can offer our scalable solutions to the really big global players.

Head of ICT Security:
There is a point that I feel is very important in this context: we are the first company anywhere in the world to offer a truly end-to-end solution, from the application, to the network, to the data center. The data and applications are secure at all times, transmitted in encrypted form via VPN tunnel technology, and never leaving the T-Systems environment. This applies to all our cloud-optimized, high-bandwidth mobile and wired networks. Together, they transmit an average of 400,000 terabytes of data every month.
